Jordanie and Arsene write a newspaper article:

This week Paul PCS has started to kick off its Pennies for Peace fundraiser. On Monday a committed group of Paul students called the, “The Pennies for Peace committee”, showed a video they had produced to the student body. The video explained why Paul students should help raise money to help build schools in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

7th grader, Arsene Noe, said, “They don’t have the same opportunities that we have in the U.S. So we want to raise money to help build schools and give them the opportunities that we have.” A lot of students asked, “Why just donate pennies?” Jordanie Ogu another 7th grader at Paul replied, “In the U.S. a penny isn’t worth anything. But in Afghanistan and Pakistan a penny can buy a pencil, and $1 can buy a teacher for a day. A penny is something that all students can afford to donate.”

The campaign lasts the entire month of March and so far students from all grade levels have been bringing in their spare change to their homeroom teachers. When they asked why they are donating their money to kids on the other side of the world that they don’t even know, the students replied, “Everyone deserves an education.”
